Insomnia & sleep treatment in Dallas & across Texas
Lying awake at 3 a.m., watching the hours until your alarm — chronic insomnia wears down mood, focus, patience, and physical health. And because sleep and mental health run in both directions, insomnia is often tangled up with anxiety, depression, ADHD, or trauma. Treating the sleep problem without understanding the whole picture rarely works.
Healing Realm Psychiatry & Wellness evaluates and treats insomnia and related sleep issues by secure telehealth for adolescents 13 and older and adults across Texas, including Dallas and DFW — looking for the root cause, not just a sleeping pill.
Signs your sleep needs attention
You don't need to check every box — if several of these sound familiar and are affecting your daily life, an evaluation can bring clarity.

- ✦Relying on alcohol or over-the-counter aids to fall asleep
- ✦Daytime fatigue, irritability, or trouble concentrating
- ✦Racing thoughts or worry the moment your head hits the pillow
- ✦Sleep problems lasting three months or longer
- ✦Nightmares or restless sleep tied to stress or trauma
Online care, built around you
Your 60–70 minute evaluation examines your sleep pattern alongside your full psychiatric and medical picture — anxiety, depression, ADHD medications, caffeine, chronic pain, and other factors that commonly drive insomnia. When another condition is fueling the sleeplessness, treating it is often the key to sleeping again.
Plans combine behavioral foundations — consistent schedules, stimulus control, wind-down routines drawn from CBT-I principles — with medication when appropriate, plus referrals for dedicated sleep therapy or medical sleep studies when indicated. Follow-ups every 2 weeks to 3 months track your progress.
A careful, collaborative approach
When medication is part of the plan, we favor options with the best safety profile for your situation and the lowest risk of dependence, prescribed at the lowest effective dose for the time you actually need it. Sedatives are never the whole answer — they work alongside behavioral change, not instead of it.
If sleep problems ride along with depression or anxiety, treating the underlying condition — with GeneSight testing available to guide medication selection — frequently restores sleep as well.
Common questions about insomnia & sleep care
Will you just prescribe a sleeping pill?+
No. Sleeping medication may be part of a plan, but our first job is figuring out why you can't sleep — anxiety, depression, medications, habits, or a primary sleep disorder — and treating that root cause.
Could my insomnia be caused by another condition?+
Very often, yes. Insomnia is one of the most common symptoms of anxiety, depression, PTSD, and unmanaged ADHD. That's why a full psychiatric evaluation beats a sleep aid alone.
What is CBT-I?+
Cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia — the gold-standard, non-medication treatment for chronic insomnia. We incorporate its core principles into your plan and can refer you to dedicated CBT-I therapy when a fuller course would help.
Do I need a sleep study?+
If your history suggests sleep apnea, restless legs, or another medical sleep disorder — loud snoring, gasping awake, unrefreshing sleep despite enough hours — we'll refer you for appropriate testing and coordinate with your other providers.
